What's New?
For the new model year, the Ram 1500 gets a full redesign with a new look and multiple upgrades. Now, the Hemi V8 has been dropped, and a new twin-turbocharged inline-six is in its place. The truck's exterior styling has been updated with new lighting elements, wheel designs, and a color palette.
As for the interior, the 8.4-inch touchscreen has been replaced by a larger 12.0-inch unit, and an even larger 14.5-inch display is now available. There's also a 10.3-inch passenger-side screen that's now an available option. Additionally, a new range-topping Tungsten model is made available, and it offers quilted-leather upholstery, massaging seats, and upscale features such as a 23-speaker Klipsch stereo.

Performance
The new Ram 1500 comes with two powertrains. A V6 and twin-turbo inline-six gasoline engine. Both are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system. The base engine outputs 305 horsepower, while the inline-six, which Ram calls Hurricane, is capable of producing between 420 and 540 horsepower, respectively. With this much power under the hood, the Ram 1500 is a capable hauler. The Ram 1500 can tow up to 11,580 pounds and carry a payload of up to 2,300 pounds.
Fuel Economy
While the EPA hasn't released estimates for the inline-six's fuel economy, we do know that the base V6 should offer about 20 mpg city and 25 highway.
Design
As drivers enter the Ram 1500, they'll find plenty of cubby storage and ample passenger space. In higher trims, more upscale features become available, such as heated and ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof. The most luxurious versions offer premium leather seats and genuine wood accents.
The Ram 1500's crew cab, as you might expect, is the most spacious option, and it too has ample interior storage along with a unique split-folding tailgate. Every model also comes with either a five-foot-seven-inch or a six-foot-four-inch cargo bed.
Technology
Ram is known for having one of the best infotainment systems in its class, and that's thanks to its responsive touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, Wi-Fi access, and Ram Connect connected services. While a five-inch touchscreen is standard, an eight-inch unit is offered in higher trims, though an optional 12.0-inch touchscreen is optional on all but the base Ram model.
Safety
Whether you're traversing the city streets or the nearby trails, the Ram 1500 will ensure you stay safe. Installed in every model are features such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
